Theta Mu gets first chapter house!

DSIGHOUSE!

It's been a great year for brothers receiving awards and recognition at both the national and local level but the best award we have recieved is our new Chapter house located at 321 Columbia Terrace. After a long bid process the brothers of Delta Sigma Phi - Theta Mu were chosen to be the new tenants in the former Sigma Kappa house and will, for the first time in 14 great years, have a place to call home.

     GreekManandWoman

This Sunday, April 11th 2010 Theta Mu Brother Micah Fielden and Sweetheart Nikki Cetrulo were awarded Greek Man and Woman of the Year at the Annual Greek Banquet. Congratulations to both recipients for making Delta Sigma Phi and Theta Mu proud.

UK’s Theta Mu is Recognized for their Achievements at the

DELTA SIGMA PHI NATIONAL CONVENTION:

100_0711[1]

During the 2009 Biennial Convention of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, all chapters across the nation took notice as UK’s Theta Mu Brotherhood was recognized for setting new standards of excellence.

At the convention the Theta Mu Brothers were declared one of only two chapters with over 15 new members than the previous year. Additionally, the Brothers were named the overall recruitment winners out of all Delta Sigma Phi chapters in the nation.
The next honor bestowed was the 2009 Pyramid of Excellence. Our Brotherhood was one of only eight chapters to receive this great prize. The Pyramid of Excellence is acclaimed as the highest award that any Delta Sig chapter can receive. It is based on Academic/Personal Success, Membership Growth & Retention, Responsibility & Accountability, and Campus/Community Involvement among other things. After receiving this award the Brothers have now accumulated 5 total Pyramids of Excellence; four of which have been in the last five years.

After receiving the Pyramid of Excellence, former President Clayton Spiceland and former Vice President Jay Patel took home the Order of the Sphinx Award. This high honor is only given to about 65 brothers across the nation for their contributions to Delta Sig every year.

Last, but certainly not least, Our new alumni and part of the incoming 2009 medical school class at UK, Clayton Spiceland, took home the nations most prestigious award, The E. Allen James Award. This honor is only given to ONE undergraduate member in the NATION for their amazing contributions toward their chapter, campus, and community. This is an absolute honor for Clayton and a monumental accomplishment for our Brotherhood.

After receiving these awards our Brotherhood recognizes the standards we set last year and are determined set new ones this upcoming year.

Clayton Spiceland: Executive Officer of the Year

Clayton Spiceland, Kentucky '05, was named Executive Officer of the Year by the Uprespicniversity of Kentucky's Interfraternity Council (IFC) on April 5, 2009.

The Executive Officer of the Year is awarded to one member of the UK Greek community each year for their work in their own chapter and the UK Greek system.

Spiceland was recognized for his efforts as president of Delta Sig's Theta Mu Chapter, which has gone from around 75 members two years ago to around 115 members today.

In addition, his recognition was due to being president of the Inter-Greek Programming Assembly, a 15-member executive board responsible for the planning and programming of all Greek Events and activities, including leadership retreats, Greek Week, Service Week, and all community service projects.

While Spiceland was the president of IGPA, the Greek community at the University of Kentucky raised $250,000 and contributed 39,000 community service hours.

Greek Sing 2009

Delta Sigma Phi: Takes First Place in Fraternity Division

The Brothers of Delta Sigma Phi took home first place in the fraternity division at Greek Sing with their "Tribute to the Ladies" routine Saturday night.  Over 8,000 were in attendance for the event, which raised over an estimated $75,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kentucky.  The event is held annually in the Spring, and is hosted by Chi Omega sorority.  Historically at this event, as well as in recent years, Delta Sigma Phi has built a reputation for strong performances and top finishes.
